EXPLORING THE ISLANDS OF THE GREEN CAPE

Fly via stopovers to the island of Santiago

where the capital Praia is located

of the island state with the international

name of Cape Verde (Cape Verde).

After

breakfast we will start exploring the capital Praia , whose old town has been

on the Unesco World Heritage list since 2009. At the highest point, with a panoramic view of the city,

dominates the Castle, which dates back to 1587 when it was built to protect the

island from the terrible Corsair Francis Dake . Other attractions of the day

are the city itself and its port, the ruins of the Cathedral, the church of

Nosa Senora do Rosario , the Franciscan monastery, Pilori square and Mendoza 's

house .

Santiago is the most "African" of all the

islands of the Archipelago since its inhabitants have darker skin and approach

life with a relaxed and "carefree" attitude. Today we will venture

into the interior of the island of Santiago passing through picturesque

villages such as São Domingos and Assomada with cheerful residents and

beautiful markets. We will cross mountainous landscapes and green ravines and

reach the northernmost point of the island where the town of Tarrafal is located

, built in an impressive bay with steep volcanic slopes, and in the late

afternoon we will return to Praia.

Get ready for the biggest surprise of Cabo Verde.

We leave the bags at the hotel and with only one hand luggage we fly to the

island of Sao Vincente which we will get to know later. From the port of

Mindelo with a very short sail we will meet with the local ferry across to the

island of Santo Andao , a spectacle of cliffs, canyons, hidden valleys and

imposing volcanoes. Afternoon exploration of the city of Porto Novo and

surrounding areas.

With an open van we will drive

through the mountain roads and stop frequently for photos on the steep slopes

and unique landscapes. Enchanted by the revelation we will stop for souvenirs

and mementos in the capital Ribeira Grande

From the port of Porto Novo we will return by ferry

back to Mindelo on the island of Sao Vincente , in the northwest of the

archipelago that the locals call "little Brazil". Sao Vincente is a

beautiful island with a cosmopolitan atmosphere with many bars, galleries and a

lively nightlife. It is the hometown of Cesaria Évora and her fellow citizens,

proud of her unique voice, often organize dense mini-concerts and musical

evenings in her honor. Today we will start our acquaintance with the island

from Mindelo , the largest city of the island. Then we will see Das Gatas beach

where the great music festival is organized every year. Going east we will

climb to Monte Verde to enjoy the wonderful panoramic view and from there to

Callau to see the peaks of the extinct volcanoes.

Today we depart by air for Santa Maria on Sal

Island at the north eastern tip of the Archipelago. In the afternoon we will

have a beautiful walk to the capital Santa Maria, center of the salt that was

produced by the island in the area of Piedra de Liume .

Free day to enjoy swimming in the wonderful sandy

beaches of the island, famous not only for the locals but also for the

Europeans who flood the Sal almost all seasons of the year. We are sure that

the sea breeze will provide one of the most beautiful evenings on the island.

Early

morning transfer to the airport and return flight to Athens via intermediate

stations.
